Brittany Trang, Ph.D. is a health tech reporter at STAT News, where she covers artificial intelligence, data, and cybersecurity in health care. She writes and hosts the weekly AI Prognosis newsletter, which examines how AI is reshaping medicine, from hospital systems to insurance and billing practices. A scientist-turned-journalist, Trang holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Northwestern University, where her research focused on PFAS “forever chemicals.” She began her journalism career through the AAAS Mass Media Fellowship and a reporting fellowship at STAT, joining the newsroom full time in 2023. Trang is known for cutting through hype to deliver clear, practical reporting on AI’s real-world impact in health care—helping journalists and industry leaders understand both the promise and the risks of emerging technologies.
