What the heck is MCP and how can it help journalists? Two ways to build a data collection tool without coding experience
Friday May 8, 2026 8:30am - 9:15am EDT
Model Context Protocol (MCP) was invented last year by Anthropic but what the heck does it mean and how can it help journalists? Bright Data will share how this newly coined tool is the key to live data collection, whether it’s for a story or tracking topics and sources within your beat across the web. We’ll demonstrate how to use it and Vibe Code to get the data you need, no matter what it is you hope to achieve. No data experience needed! You will leave the session with a basic understanding of how the technology works by participating and having the knowledge to build with it again. We'll provide documentation and the tools needed for free.

This panel is in partnership with Bright Data.

What audiences actually want to know about money: A chat with Alexis and Dean Indot
Friday May 8, 2026 3:00pm - 3:45pm EDT
Millions of people now learn about money, markets and personal finance from creators on platforms like TikTok, often before they ever encounter traditional business journalism. In this chat, we sit down with Dean Indot, a viral finance creator known for making complex financial concepts relatable, human and easy to understand.

This conversation explores what Dean has learned about what audiences are actually confused by, anxious about and hungry to understand when it comes to business and finance, and how those insights intersect with (and sometimes challenge) traditional business journalism. We’ll talk candidly about where business journalism is connecting well with audiences, where it may be missing the mark and what journalists can learn from the way creators build trust and relevance without sacrificing accuracy.

This panel is in partnership with RTDNA.
